A Teachers Pay Teachers gift card will allow me to buy decodable books for my students! This will make a huge impact upon the learning of my students because they will have a text that they can actually sound out and read on their own. My school currently uses LLI, which is an intervention that does not align with the phonics skills being taught. LLI reinforces my students to guess because they have not learned and mastered many of the sound rules that are in these books. If my students were to have decodable readers, they would be able to read the text, with more independence and less intervening by me! This, in turn, makes them feel more successful as readers, and also makes them like reading! I know when I am successful at something it is much more enjoyable, and if my students had decodable books, they will learn to love to read!
