Just a few months ago, severe weather impacted our school building and caused my classroom to flood. My students and I lost countless school supplies, personal items, and learning materials to the water damage. Since then, I have been working hard to rebuild our joyful learning environment in a new space. While we've kept our spirits high, I know my students are missing their classroom and the special spaces we've created together this year. This project will restore one of the most special spots in our classroom: the Writer's Workshop. It includes some of their favorite writing, illustrating, and editing tools, like felt pens, highlighters, crayons, and markers for every skin tone, as well as waterproof containers to prevent any future loss of these items. My hope is that by restoring a Writer's Workshop in our recovering classroom, my students will maintain their joy in the writing process and continue on a path to becoming lifelong readers and writers.
