Each one of my students is unique and require different things to make their individual learning successful. Having a variety of seating options and sensory equipment allows my students to learn to self regulate when they get frustrated or need a break. Having a standing desk allows my students to move around, stretch, and still continue to work. This is especially helpful for students that can not be comfortably seated all day, or just prefer to stand. Weighted items are essential for some student, the pressure helps to relax them and allow them to continue working. Fidget toys stimulate senses and brains, allowing students to focus on their learning. The fidget toys are also are small enough to have at their desk that everyone can all have one, which can help eliminate disruptions for everyone. And, let's face it, we all have "those" days. What could be better than a few minutes relaxing in a bean bag chair to reset?
