Beginner drivers have NO idea what they are getting into many times when they get the keys to their car. This was my own experience being an automotive enthusiast, my parents weren't. I was told to not speed, and pay attention... but I wasn't told what to do if my battery died. I wasn't told who to call if I locked my keys in my car (or how to be prepared to not have to call someone). I had to learn the hard way when my car left me stranded on the side of the road or when I got stuck in a traffic jamb with my fuel gauge on empty! I want to offer a club to students where we can spend time getting familiar with their car and preparing them for many of the things they may experience as they are out on their own. Ultimately though, this donors choose is to provide much needed support for beginner drivers at my school. Not just any drivers though, but beginner drivers without the financial support to afford to prepare them for the worst their vehicle has to throw at them. These items would be granted to students facing economic hardships, students that still need to drive to get to work and school, many still need to drive to transport younger siblings because parents are unavailable to do so. These cars will be on the road if WE can help prepare them or not, so, lets make them safer, more prepared drivers. Not all kits will be granted as a whole and some pieces paid for by wonderful donors will be given out individually on an as needed basis. While there are 4 whole kits requested, these donations have the ability to spread much further than 4 select students.
