This project uses FlipGrid for students to create 5-7 minute documentaries tracing the history of race and resistance in the history of Detroit. Students who had access to the best technology were able to create amazing historical accounts using photography, video clips, and on-site commentary. While most students were able to complete the research and script-writing activities with the technology they have, it was the filming and editing activities that prevented many students from completing the project or from creating a well-crafted documentary. They were disappointed. I was, too. The requested iPads will give all students access to the technology needed to create amazing projects.

About my class
