This year I had the great experience of teaching a coding class to 3rd graders. I used Code.org and Scratch and they have really responded to this class with great enthusiasm! I have never seen a group of students so excited about learning. It is my hope for next year to continue this class for my new 3rd graders and add an after school coding/robotics program. With that being said, my project is to help grow my program to be even more collaborative and engaging with Makey Makey and Sphero Robot Toys. Makey Makey transforms everyday objects, such as bananas or playdough, into touchpads having students "Make" their own Keyboards. The computer becomes an extension of their creativity, fostering imaginative play, discovery, and invention. Sphero is a really cool, programmable robot that can inspire kids to learn, build, create, and turn their imagination into reality.
