My French students will greatly benefit from having a diverse variety of books in our classroom library. Continued exposure to the language in different contexts will build their vocabulary, understanding of grammar structures, pronunciation with read-aloud activities, and confidence in reading fluency! The benefits of a classroom library are countless. For instance, students will have a weekly reading choice activity where they will pick a book to read and write a summary of events, characters, themes and new and recognized vocabulary. Repeated activities like this one are crucial to developing an understanding of the French language. Also, by becoming better readers of French, they will also develop literacy skills that can help them in their study of English.
