My students are budding readers and love to read to each other as they learn and grow in their abilities. Reading time has always been their favorite whether it is listening to a book on epic, having me read to them, or taking turns reading. Ever since we read a book about volcanoes the students have had an explosive desire for more science books specifically relating to books focusing on the natural world around them. While they love new characters and silly stories about far away places, they also love learning about the world around them. Many of the books their level that are available are not about their new-found world around them. Since there is no focus on science for the younger grades, the science kit would assist in growing their minds and furthering that interest at a young age. Their knowledge would rain down on them and turn them into creative flowers hungry for what is next to discover.
