Students will learn how to code and put together a basic Arduino. Arduinos allow students to learn how electronics work. It also gives freedom to students to come up with new ideas on how to make projects. Students work on the computer to design their system for their project and make sure it works. After they are done they will use the kit to build a real system. For example, I have students who are designing a desalination machine to create drinking water using an Arduino to run the system.
