It's stressful for students to return to school after learning remotely for more than a year. Students can't learn when they are stressed. In addition, students have faced intense loss during the pandemic. If I am able to attend this training on social-emotional learning, my classroom will be transformed to meet the social-emotional needs of students. I will integrate mindfulness and other tools into my lessons, creating a culture of calm and focus so that students can feel ready to learn, despite all that they carry in their lives. With a classroom culture that meets their needs, students will be able to feel great about taking risks again, access higher-order thinking, and find ways to encourage each other to be their best selves.
