Students will learn culture through craft projects. The projects will serve as a culminating activity and reinforce the history and culture studied. For example, we will learn about the history of origami from Japan. A culminating activity would be to make origami cranes and string them together as they do at the Peace Memorial in Hiroshima. We will also read the story of Sadako and the 1000 cranes. We will also make flowers, trays, and other items. Students love hands-on learning because they can complete something and take it home.
