Fish in a Tree by Lynda Mullaly Hunt is a story that fosters acceptance among students. In the novel, a student overcomes her embarrassment brought on by her personal reading struggles. Lynda Mullaly Hunt does an incredible job conveying the message that a label doesn't define you. The theme of this book is a message that every student needs to hear. My class will make personal connections to this story and learn how to overcome their personal struggles. This book will not only enhance our reading skills, it will develop our social emotional skills as well.
