Most students want to learn to play an instrument at some point in their life. We want to provide a much-needed opportunity for our students, not only to learn to play the guitar but to write music as well and gain a greater appreciation for music overall. Most of our students cannot afford private lessons and do not have access to an instrument of their own. We also want to provide our students with a sense of accomplishment and help raise their self-esteem. We also want to provide incentives for students to maintain good attendance. Simply having something to look forward to will help provide the nudge many of our students need. Finally, learning to play an instrument has proven to increase cognitive ability. We hope that this will help our students better focus in the classroom.
