Books are a great way for children to learn about other cultures. When a child reads a book, they are opening the gates to their imagination. I want my students to be able to see that no matter what gender or color they are, they can accomplish anything they put their minds to. The set of "Ordinary People Change The World" books are a great way for students to see that people just like themselves, started out as ordinary people and were able to accomplish great things. I have also added many books that speak about being different from one another. My hope is that by having books that discuss these topics, my students will be able to feel comfortable in their own skin.
