Building a strong understanding in literacy and numeracy is the basis of kindergarten academics. Often kindergarten students have had little to no prior school experience so teachers must first teach what school procedures look like and how students should behave and interact with one another to create a positive learning community. Kindergarten students need explicit and engaging lessons to understand the routines of the school day, how to use school supplies and materials to learn, and healthy ways to respond to challenging interpersonal situations and peer conflict. I am requesting stories, poems, games, and student activities purchased from Teachers Pay Teachers (such as Pip the Pup stories from Tara West), my students will practice and develop the skill sets needed so that they are ready to be successful learners and classmates! I will be using materials from Teachers Pay Teachers (such as Kindergarten Goal Setting from Keeping My Kinders Busy) to share information, ideas, and resources with parents to help them best support their child's academic, social, and emotional growth.
