My students in the classroom are performing 4-5 grade levels in this special day school. These snacks will be used as a morale booster to aid the students in making educational gains. My student's emotional/behavioral disabilities lead to additional challenges in the classroom that require creative interventions to improve focus and learning, especially during the pandemic, which has altered their lives and routines in so many ways. When students do not have their physical needs met, it is difficult for them to concentrate on their learning. Many days, my students come to school hungry and asking for food. Many families are still struggling with jobs, transportation, and earning enough money to feed their families. These struggles are compounded for the families of my students with disabilities. The drinks and snacks will help send them home with something in their stomachs, and it will ensure that they have something to snack on during weekends. These items are also a reinforcer to come to school because they are given out at the end of the day.
