I have taught first grade at the same Title 1 school for 15 years: my entire professional teaching career. Our little school is expanding due to the increase in population in the area. We are adding a NEW Kindergarten classroom next school year. I have made the EXCITING decision to switch grade levels and become my school’s newest Kindergarten teacher! The centerpiece and most used area in a Kindergarten classroom is the rug, where we will gather numerous times a day. This large classroom rug will not only give my classroom the perfect whole group learning space and individual sections for students to sit in, but it will also create an educational ambiance with the alphabet displayed when we are working on independent activities at our seats.
