After COVID-19, my students never learned how to self-regulate while they are working. Middle school is a really important time for them to learn how to stay in their seat, self-monitor that they are on-task and being productive. Currently, my students come to my class multiple times a day, and sitting in the same seats which makes it hard for them to focus, especially after not being in a classroom like this due to the social distancing requirements last year. I would like to utilize flexible seating to give them an opportunity to move out of their seats in a structured way, to promote self-monitoring as they are able to move around the room and choose what kind of seating will create the best learning environment for them.
