I have the privilege of teaching an amazing group of 18 second graders who come to school each day ready to learn, grow, and have fun! Second grade is such a special year as students become more independent, gain confidence in themselves, and really begin to discover what they love about learning. My classroom is full of different personalities, strengths, interests, and learning styles. I work hard to create a space where every student feels safe, supported, included, and excited to come to school. We spend our days reading, writing, exploring math, working together, asking lots of questions, and celebrating our successes—both big and small! I believe children learn best when they are engaged and excited about what they are doing. Whether we are reading a great book, working with hands-on materials, learning through games, or collaborating with classmates, I want my students to see that learning can be fun. Most importantly, I want my students to leave second grade knowing that they are capable, important, and loved. My goal is to build not only strong readers, writers, and mathematicians, but more importantly, kind, confident kids who are excited to keep learning!
