I have seen first hand how much my students have missed in the education journey due to C-19. I have many gaps to fill this year, especially in their reading education. Books and resources will bridge that gap so much more. For the past 2 years, my students have been experiencing trauma first hand-- a world-wide pandemic! Their worries have been different than any other group of kids. "Do I get to go to school?", "Will my mom still have a job?", "Will my grandma live?". Because of this trauma, education has been put on the back burner. It is my job to help them heal. By receiving the gift of books, my students will be able to get back on track with their reading goals. My class is feeling the affects of Covid-19 in their literacy skills. Most of my students are in need of intensive remediation. Through receiving books, I can read with more kids, allow them to take books home, and introduce them to new topics. My goal is to have every student meet the reading benchmark by the end of the year.
