I work with students with special needs in an Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) classroom, and my students often need that little bit of extra motivation to perform different tasks. My students are all very picky in what they eat, but they all seem to have in common that they love snack foods. This is one of the ways that my students' parents and I have found to work in motivating them. My staff and I work with our students using these snacks as reinforcement for the students when they accomplish different things. For example, we may be working with a student on going to the restroom independently, and when they are finally able to achieve it, one of the snacks is extremely reinforcing for them. This encourages them to continue being successful. Motivation is not always easy for our students, so these food items will help provide that for them.
