These books will allow me to build a middle school classroom library that is inclusive. It will expose students to diverse books where they can recognize themselves in the books that are about underrepresented perspectives and diverse characters having everyday experiences. These pieces of literature will help students understand other people's experiences, which in turn will help them to build empathy and empower the voices of students. It will also allow students to recognize that everyone is unique and has something special to offer the world. In doing this, the 6th graders will continue to develop into empathetic individuals who support and honor everyone's experiences and beliefs.
