I chose these items for specific reasons as to how they will help my students learning. Right now in our nation we are seeing all time high absences because students are sick or because they are choosing to skip class. I want to motivate my students to come and I thought that the use of stickers might be a small motivation for them to come each week. I also use Jolly Ranchers in my classroom as a simple but quick rewards for participation, this helps motivates the students in class to keep coming! A lot of my students families were heavily impacted by COVID and food security is something that they may lack, I like to provide snacks for students to eat if they are worried about their next meal. Students are more likely to stay focused and engaged when they are not worried about how they are going to get food.
