The books and Teachers Pay Teachers activities and materials I am requesting will make a difference in my students' learning. The book sets will give the children exposure to books of different genres. It will allow them to explore them at their own pace. They will also get to experience the joy of reading independently and the joy of reading with a partner. The book sets and magazine subscriptions will allow students to see that reading is cross curricular and not reserved for just one subject. These materials will also allow me to expose the students to fiction and nonfiction texts and the text features associated with each genre. This is an important skill for second grade and will help my students prepare for third grade. The materials from Teachers Pay Teachers will give me access to activities to use to increase student learning. Most of all, my goal is to foster a love of reading to encourage the children to explore and want to learn, even when they are not in the classroom.
