By helping fund this project you will be adding new books to our classroom library. There is a large range of books that I have requested that will help in all subject areas. There are mentor texts that will help with social emotional needs, writing, math, and social studies. I have also requested little My First I Can Read readers. These books will give me more resources to get books into the hands of my students. I will be adding these readers to my Lending Library program. This is a program where I send home a book daily with my students. This makes it easy for my parents to read daily to their child. Reading 20 minutes a day can expose a child to over 1 million words a year. This is critical for increased knowledge, vocabulary and oral skills. My hope is through daily reading this can help fill gaps that have been caused by COVID disruption in our schools.
