Each student spends four years in my classroom to grow and understand what wonders the art world has to offer. My students build their canvases from luan board and strips of 2x2s. They then begin to prepare art pieces that become part of their high school portfolios.
Help us receive the cutting table we need for the Kreg saw the we purchased last year because this saw table will allow students to build their own canvases.
Art in high school lends a path for students to express themselves and affect others. Art also helps us to understand our own lives.
We focus on crafting visual arts that provide storytelling, growth of mindset, self-reflection, and creativity. Creating art is a practice of communication and empathy. Art gives my students new ways to process meaning in their life experiences. Through our canvas projects, my students discover inner monologues that might be drowned out by the hyper-academic atmosphere of their school. The art class helps students to settle down, plan out a canvas, and figure things out.
Creating art allows students to consider multiple perspectives and imagine new possibilities of self reflection and self representation. Art in high school lends a path for students to express themselves and affect others. Art also helps us to understand our own lives.
