When students are able to access fiction, they have access to shared humanity. While fantasy literature, on its face, might seem the furthest thing from reality, its themes and conflict are present in everyday life. Additionally, students can use a single book to venture into not only fantasy novels and stories, but their preferred works of fiction and other types of literature. Fiction can open the door to reading and reflection and the first step is picking up the book. Please help my students access a love of reading and reflecting on the world for the rest of their lives!
