Every educator knows the importance of building a love for literacy within our students. When students have access to stories that sound like their own personal story, or feature characters that look like them, they are inspired. Not only inspired to keep reading that particular story, but explore other stories, and maybe even tell their own story through writing. Simultaneously, when students hear stories so vastly different than their own life experiences, they build empathy and understanding for their peers. This empathy deepens their understanding of the world around them and builds a strong foundation for future learning.

About my class
