Creating individualized tasks have many benefits in a Self Contained Special Education classroom. Some of the benefits are that they address various skills, encourage student independence and are catered to students Individualized Education Program. Students find satisfaction in completing their own work and are proud when they have mastered the task. Tasks also help create routine and order for students, this assistive technology is vital to education. New tasks are created almost weekly when a student has mastered the task. All tasks are created and printed on card stock and will be laminated and placed onto manila folders. The sticky back coins are velcro dots which makes it easy for students to place pieces on the task and easy to remove. The tasks are used to teach sorting, alphabetical order, matching, and are used as math manipulatives. The materials will be used to create individualized tasks, schedules, and communication pictures. These materials are vital in our students learning because it is used every day with all core subjects. This will give us the opportunity to continue creating new tasks as needed throughout the whole year.
