Graphing calculators are useful in assisting students in understanding challenging concepts in mathematics, such as matrices, graphing functions, and analyzing graphs of functions. While students are encouraged to purchase their own calculators, several students do not own a graphing calculator due to the high cost associated with purchasing one. For this reason, I allow students to borrow the few calculators I have in my class. In the past, some of my students have had to wait before being able to borrow a graphing calculator to complete specific portions of their exam due to other students borrowing the calculators. Additionally, a few of the graphing calculators I currently have in my classroom are broken. By having more graphing calculators in my classroom, students will be able to borrow them to complete their assignments; thereby aiding them in keeping up with their studies.
