Opera for the Young’s adaptation of Hansel and Gretel embodies elements of a great artwork for young audiences. Fundamentally, it’s a vivid story that comes to life with Humperdinck’s compelling score. This is a tale of good and evil, making mistakes and being forgiven, bravely facing danger, being loyal, and, OFTY’s trademark - lots of humor….all with the intrinsic participation of a student chorus. All students at MELA would be given an immersive opportunity to participate as part of the student chorus, singing along with four professional opera singers. An opportunity like this doesn't come around that often, and it would bring joy to students who have gone through so much change this past year!
