I have been doing meditation, yoga, and HITT classes in the library with students to lower test and personal anxiety, to improve their physical health, and to teach mindfulness, but I lack the funding for yoga mats which would make these experiences much better. I have worked with core classes and health classes during school hours. After school numerous teams (football, basketball, softball, wrestling, and baseball) and faculty have attended sessions in my space. My library is an amazing open area that would allow for an entire class (pre and post COVID) to practice together. Yoga mats would allow my students and teachers their own personal space to stretch, relax, and participate more fully. It would make the classes more comfortable and socially distanced. I have been trained in teaching Yoga to Teens in Trauma, and I want to continue to teach more students in the comfort of my amazing library. These programs will help students handle their emotions, relieve stress, and improve overall mental and physical health.
