The students I teach are older but still reading at a low level. Often times the books they can read independently are not of interest to them due to age. The books I've chosen will allow students to choose high-interest books with engaging storylines while still learning to read. Highly engaging books are an important part of teaching struggling readers to read. By presenting books at their interest level, students are more willing to jump in and try them. The books can be used in the classroom or sent home for practice.
