Studies have shown that students find this more effective and interesting using the technology piece. Physical Education (PE) teachers are bound to enhance their programs with 2 alternative lifelong physical activities and innovative fitness programs. We want to help students with their critical thinking skills, writing skills, reading skills, and basic math skills. We want them to be able to analyze their performance and skills with different applications. Studies have shown that students find it more interesting and teachers find it more effective to have students do this for themselves. There are so many neat ways to do this in Physical Education all while following the state standards and integrating math, reading, science, and writing skills. Technology devices will be an important factor in the achievement of our goals of implementing technology devices in our classrooms and to engage our student, having other options and interesting activities when having cross content materials integrated into our class. Students can use pedometers to count how many steps they are taking and then taking the average (math) and having an estimate during the week and be able to see if they performed to their projections. They will later write down paragraphs and essays regarding their results and if goals were achieved. This can motivate them to adopt a more physically active approach to the class and their lives. Another example is the heart rate monitors which can guide the teacher’s instructional portion on how to design activities to put those math equations and to keep track of those results on short paper reports.
