These items are meant to make each student feel comfortable in a way that allows them to learn. As students return to school, it may make them a bit worried and apprehensive about getting settle and getting work done. I am working to shift how they feel about school. I do more than work for a school, I want to see my students grow and reach for success. The lap desks will be used to shift the environment of how a student gets comfortable in class. If my students are allowed to get comfortable in class, or even while visiting someone's office, they are much more likely to complete work. This will also be helpful to reduce some of the stress in other classrooms, as I can pull them aside to work separately on a variety of topics. The calculators are meant to reduce the number of shortcut errors and guesses on math and science projects. They are meant to be a tool for checking work, and reinforcing the notion that they are doing their work correctly. The Certificate paper is meant to help my students feel like they are making progress. It would instrumental in celebrating the wins of each student as they reach a mile stone, and as they get called out for academic achievement. All students deserve the opportunity to learn in a way that helps them get the most information possible. I will work hard to find something that helps different learning styles, and make each student I encounter feel like trying.
