The supplies that I've requested for my class especially the magnetic whiteboard will definitely mean a lot for my students. Magnetic whiteboards can help my children improve their literacy and numeracy now that we are more on virtual preschool classroom. My children are more inclined to want to write on whiteboards and try out more complicated drawing and writing activities, because it removes their anxiety surrounding making mistakes- as they can just wipe it clean and start again. In terms of literacy, they are a fantastic tool for practicing reading and writing. For my 3-year old’s and four-year old’s they are a fun and engaging method of perfecting letter formation as well as writing and reading sight words. It is also evident that having a whiteboard encourages creativity. It’s a fun medium for my young children to experiment with pen control, drawing and coloring. We want my children to master handwriting and drawing skills early on so they would struggle less in overall literacy and communication. Not merely on penmanship, but on strategies, planning, and organization can truly help my students for their future lives.
My preschoolers are so determined to learn by showcasing their works and express their unique ideas about them. Every time we do our "Show & Tell" they couldn't stop talking about what they drew or wrote on the paper. We do encourage our children in writing and drawing and provide numerous opportunities to develop their emergent literacy capacities.
