My students share their time between my classroom and a general education classroom. They need a place to keep their lunch at safe temperatures during their school day. Since most students with autism can be particular about the food they will eat, because of textures, they require some where to heat up their lunch as well. Help provide them with their foundational basic need of food. These items can also teach my students life skills. The life skill of being able to prepare their own food is a critical skill needed for the rest of their life. The microwave can be used with visuals to teach how to heat their lunch independently. My goal is to provide the students with a place for their lunch and to teach them independence.
