In the field of Early Childhood Education, most people hold either a Special Education endorsement or an ESL/Bilingual endorsement in addition to their degree. Anyone who holds all three is considered a unicorn. I would like to become that unicorn. I have my Early childhood ESL/Bilingual endorsement, but I am missing the Early Childhood Special Education endorsement. Here's why that matters to me; In the past seven years of teaching, I have spent two of those years working as a co-teacher in a Special Education Bilingual classroom. My students at that time had multiple obstacles in their way; learning a second language, having physical impairments and/or educational delays, dealing with poverty, hunger, and bias for the above situations. Yet, through it all they learned. They grew and they met goals. They developed social relationships that didn't come naturally to them. The exceeded everyone's expectations. Watching that has been the highlight of my educational career. To continue on that path, I need to get a SPED endorsement. Unfortunately, I cannot do that on my own. I took a second job to help pay for the classes, but I was recently furloughed due to the pandemic. I do not want to get derailed from my goal, so I am humbly asking for your help.
