During the pandemic, students lost opportunities to grasp specific skills like skip counting or being introduced to multiplication due to the lack of technology such as headphones, computers and the usage of hands-on materials. My students are eager to learn but need a few additional supports that they can use both at home and in the classroom. The headphones and legos will be a huge support to my students with various learning styles. My students love to use technology for various learning programs and hands-on materials such as manipulaitves to grasp an understanding of skills both concretley and abstractly. The headphones will enable students to complete lessons and assessments in a controlled enviornment where students can remind focused through many of the distracts in a classroom. The Legos will be used for something called the Concrete Representational Abstract Instructional Approach. The CRA instructional approach has three stages. The first stage is "doing" and involves physically moving/manipulating objects to solve a math problem. Stage two is "seeing" and it involes using images or drawings to demonstrate understading of the concept. The last stage is "Symbolic" stage and it involves using only numbers and symbols. Students will use legos to transition from each stage to better grasp some challenging math concepts. .
