This project focuses on important math manipulatives that will help my students understand complex math concepts. Place value is an important skill that will set students up for future success in math. The place value puzzles and place value card game requested in this project will help students build a strong number sense foundation in a fun, engaging way. In addition, learning about three-dimensional shapes without actual 3D shapes to explore can be difficult. The set of large, clear, 3D manipulatives will help me show students important math vocabulary such as faces, edges, and vertices. The smaller set of 3D manipulatives will be helpful for math centers, so students can explore those key math vocabulary words on their own. Lastly, the fraction circles and fraction equivalency puzzles will give students an opportunity to explore the complexities of fractions in a kinesthetic way. Many students struggle with comparing fractions; however, having manipulatives to compare can help students become successful with the skill.
