As the COVID pandemic continues, schools will must to find ways to support our students academically, emotionally, and socially —whether virtually or in person, or a combination of both. I would like to make every effort to provide a safe learning environment for my students when they return next month. My students are a part of the largest school district in Tennessee. In an effort to keep them safe we are only now gaining approval to return to some form of in person instruction. The items that I selected would go a long way to help provide safety measures that are critical in public spaces in this COVID season. Images taken with a digital microscope will allow me to accurately measure, manipulate and study various subject matter on a much larger scale. Images or video captured from digital microscopes can be used in reports, presentations, or assessments. I could easily be share the images through email, across the web, or in lectures with colleagues or students. The cost savings in the classroom is amazing! One digital microscope gets rid of the need for one microscope per student because the same image can be seen by the whole class when it is projected onto a screen. Additionally, I could copy the image as part of an assignment and distributed to each individual student. The digital microscope will allow me to provide virtual instruction in life science for those students who choose to stay home and log into classes as well as those who come in person.
