Students often ask, "When will we ever use this?" Not everyone will use every aspect of secondary mathematics as an adult, but there are some exciting careers that use math regularly. This project helps students envision one way that math is used in the real-world to record observations, interpret data, make predictions, and test their theories. My students live in a small town where STEM ideas are important, but not every student is "on board" for the challenge. I hope this project will awaken my students' drive for learning and applying math in the world around them.
