Teaching from home has been the challenge of my career. One physical challenge is hand writing or drawing material outside of a computer document. If I am using something handwritten or drawn, I have to hold up my paper, have it face the camera and try to write in a manner that students can see what I am doing. Wiggling, shifting outside the camera view, readjusting all takes time away from learning. A document camera will allow me to hand write or draw in a way that all students can see what I am creating or see what we are creating together. I will also be able to zoom in so that kids can get a better look, without trying to hold work close to the camera with both hands and not be able to add to work until all have had a good look. A document camera will help us save time, so more learning can take place, and allow students to see work ¨live¨. Keeping work up and visible is especially important for students with special needs and that are English Language Learners, as more time is needed to process information. Having a live document projected longer will be very accommodating for all!
