As a first year teacher, I am gradually learning the specific needs of my students. I created this project with the hopes of getting a class set of privacy shields. A colleague generously donated two well-loved privacy shields for the sake of providing barriers during one-on-one assessments. My students have requested use of those shields during independent work and reading times. In a normal year, I would love to provide a calming, quiet corner for independent space. With COVID-19 precautions, my students spend the majority of their day stuck in one seat. I would love to have enough to provide each student with their own private space in the room. It is surprisingly hard to find private space in a socially distanced classroom; getting a set of privacy shields will help provide my students with a space they can call their own.
