The goal/focus of my project is to provide the young adult in the program with transitional skills to prepare them to succeed independently. Having a cash register in my classroom, will help me to provide my students with money management skills to prepare them to function in the real world. The students will use the cash register in the thrift store in which students sell donated items in the program. Money management skill is essential for my young adults, most of whom are aspiring towards independent living. The fake money and white board accessories will allow students to have hands on experiences as they learn and practice money management and budgeting. This project will help me provide them with tools to practice engaging, real life experiences from my classroom, while gaining the skills to manage their finances.
