Sensory play and discovery supports cognitive growth, fine motor skills, problem solving, and peer interaction. My project aims to not only include sensory play in the classroom, but to make it a main focus. Students will use this sensory table every day during centers. They will be asked to sort through the water beads, build letters and shapes in the sand, and find items hiding in the snow. In the time of technology take over, students NEED to learn through sensory play now more than ever! After a year of COVID where everything was online, these little learners need to be encouraged to learn through all their senses. They need to get their hands dirty while looking for all the vowels hiding in the sand, they need to get their hear the water moving from cup to cup while they are learning to pour with out spilling and they need to learn how to focus on one item while they are looking for a specific dinosaur hiding in the sand.
