The students at SCE are some of the most underserved in the United States. Cost of living, broken homes, and violence are real challenges, leaving some children to wonder if they’ll make it to school safely each morning. Our school is an important community-based institution, which in combination with a hands-on engaging curriculum helps students reach their full potential. All classroom decor such as the borders, nameplates, and posters will help create a comforting classroom to learn in. This year, I am choosing a swamp theme to accompany our school mascot, the alligator. In fourth grade science, kids learn about ecosystems. The plants, aquarium, and owl pellet kits will be used to provide hands-on instruction as well as a visual representation.
