My students face the front of my classroom in which I currently have a SmartBoard. While this is wonderful, I have found that there is truly something lacking. Important announcements now get lost as a simple slide that is shown and passed instead of being able to be written for my students to see all day. The value of modeling as a teacher is monumental, and without whiteboards at the front of my room, I am unable to truly walk my students through essential skills such as sentence structure, vocabulary, outlining, or even time management. I am also the Debate Coach at my school, and my students having the opportunity to write their ideas down in front of others so that they can receive feedback is helpful in their case writing. Having whiteboards in front of my room will allow not only me to display valuable learning information but will help my students to be able to be more engaged in their learning as well.
