We will use ukuleles to explore string instruments, talk about where the instrument comes from, learn about strumming and chords! The experience of playing ukulele will last a lifetime-- it's an instrument that is accessible both physically and financially. These instruments can offer musical gratification at a beginning level (there are chords that are easy to play, and the instrument is the perfect size for little fingers). K-2 Music is all about the experience and instilling a love of music and learning. A few students have their own ukuleles at home but the instrument is not in tune, or the student doesn't know how to play it. The opportunity to learn how to play an instrument at school can transfer to home life, and their future. I know my student would be so excited to be able to play ukulele as a class!
