The majority of our students are struggling with the remote learning paradigm and are quickly losing focus and the drive to succeed. I am struggling to produce engaging and interactive lessons, my seven year old Chromebook can not drive the interactive experiences I want to share. We have not been in the classroom since March 2020 and my Chromebook has reached its limitations. Having a new laptop with a better camera, microphone, speakers, processor, graphics card; well let’s be honest, better -everything- will help me provide my students with a more dynamic and functional learning environment. With this new Lenovo Yoga Laptop I will be able to have multiple windows open while in session with my students and share my screen without having the Google Meet/Zoom or my device crash. The HD camera in the Lenovo Yoga will enable me to create quality training videos for my animal science students that will provide them with step by step tutorials on their Veterinary Assisting competencies like animal restraint and handling, laboratory sample processing, and surgical assisting. I have extensively researched laptop computer components and I strongly feel that the Lenovo Yoga’s specifications are what is needed for me to make my online lessons more robust, taking my Animal Science students to the next level of remote learning. Additionally, when we return to the classroom, this device will be used for student created competency videos to become part of their education portfolios. I am extremely excited about this project and I truly appreciate your consideration in supporting our Animal Science program at Worcester Tech.
